Description: An antitumour cancer medicine belonging to a group of medicines called taxanes, which inhibit the growth of cancer cells by preventing cell division. It is a clear, colourless to slightly yellow, viscous solution that must be diluted before intravenous infusion.
Indication: Indicated for the treatment of several types of cancer:
- Ovarian Cancer: As first-line therapy (combined with cisplatin) or as second-line therapy after standard platinum-based treatments have failed.
- Breast Cancer: As adjuvant treatment following standard therapy, as first-line treatment for advanced or metastatic disease (often in combination with an anthracycline or trastuzumab), or as a single agent for metastatic disease.
- Advanced Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC): In combination with cisplatin for patients not eligible for surgery or radiation therapy.
- AIDS-Related Kaposi’s Sarcoma: For patients who have failed prior liposomal anthracycline therapy.
Strength: 6 mg/ml. (Available in various vial sizes, such as 30 mg/5 ml, 100 mg/16.7 ml, 300 mg/50 ml, and 600 mg/100 ml).
